This is the first bridge to feature in my Bridge List compilation that I wrote of recently, in Cairo, Egypt. Called Qasr El Nile Bridge. The bridge has a somehow interesting story behind it, although it doesn’t look that significant from this picture. But being 70+ years old over the Nile does make it quite the significant bridge I suppose. Here is a better overview of the bridge. (Notice the Lions!)
This first feature doesn’t mean anything, obviously this list needs a criteria in order to know what to have on it. Such as Structure Importance, Age, Identity, Technology, etc. I will try to improve this criteria while finding out about more bridges and such, for now this is the initial basis:
- Existence Story
- Structure Importance
- Construction Era / Age
- Identity
- Technology Advancement
Again if you have a story about a bridge that you deem worthy please contribute on: CONTRIBUTIONS[AT]ENKLOSURE[DOT]COM.
