Dubai-Based quarterly architecture magazine, 2A , is focusing in its next publication on ‘Nomadism in the 21st century’. One of my department’s instructors, Mr. Michael Schwarz, has been invited to be the guest editor of the next issue.

What is good is that they’re offering opportunities for writers and designers to participate in this, by submitting essays on various topics that relate to the main theme “Focused, but not restricted, to the architecture of the Gulf.”

Suggested Themes:

• Building types and spaces for the nomads
• Urbanism and nomads
• Global nomadism
• Nomadism in history
• Globalization

Submission Types:

• Essays and critical text on the theme. Architectural, cultural, historical, and social.
• Presentation of design projects for airports, hotels, offices..etc, by individual designers or architectural offices.

Submission Dates:

• Summary (500 words) and 2 x sample low resolution images: April 28, 2007
• Final submission (text and high resolution images): May 10, 2007
• The magazine will be published in June 2007, and there will be seminar in June as well organized by 2A in Dubai where selected contibutors will be invited to make presentations.

Submission Format:

Text in Microsoft Word documents accompanied with JPEG image format due to technical reasons.
