I went to The Big 5 Exhibition with Eyad and a few colleagues from school on the last day of the exhibition. The event was a hot spot for international companies to come to the middle east and promote their products, due to Dubai’s escalading construction scene and the boom of it’s business reputation. As an Architecture graduate student I couldn’t appreciate the event’s success on a scale, I don’t think I/we qualify for the event’s target audience either, but I did enjoy a few sections and benefit getting to know different aspects of what makes Architecture.

The exhibition was divided into sections according to the manufacturer’s origin, effective for professionals looking for new deals coming from new sources for less costs. I think it is one of the exhibition’s aims; to encourage competition based on the products origin, adding points to a country’s score in a field, and to give a chance for others to step up.

The stand I stop at usually would be Bathrooms and Kitchens, Simply there is so much creativity about coming up with new fixtures and spaces in basic functional parts of living units, and I believe it is an accurate result of a culture’s background and influence.
