Linking Architecture with Music is not something new, Goethe did, and then Libeskind. In Hayder’s graduation project, the theme was more of a translation to what could be a common territory of both Arts.

Hayder Al-Ward is an Iraqi Architect, with a Bachelor Degree of Architecture from Ajman University of Science & Technology. Hayder’s lust for Classical Music was revealed in his thematic approach, where it shows the strong relationships Hayder established to form a basis to manipulate his forms upon. The project is ‘A School Of Performing Arts’, located in the city of Ajman in the United Arab Emirates. The setting of the project was not selected by Hayder; the city lacks a lot of growth to have a school of Arts of any kind, neglecting that would debate the relationship between the site and the building - assuming there’s any in the ‘Current’ local architecture.
The aim of this project is to produce a viable design of high architectural quality that makes a worthy contribution to the townscape and a basis for further design and construction of theater and academies of music in the region.

The theme Hayder developped was to enhance the visual experience by exposing elements of architecture and introduce them in a harmonic context, and wrap those in a quiet minimalist envelope:
Perception and measurement link music and architecture through the tradition of composition in both arts. The idea of harmony, describes the mystery in which the length of vibrating strings corresponds to golden section proportions in space.
However, it is not only this aspect that connects space with the idea of cosmic order. There is an even deeper connection between the origin of architecture in a drawing and the composition of music and its transformation into a public performance.
Musical compositions performed through the large forces of an orchestra and architectural drawings used as a means to transmit form into civic space are more than analogous they are the constructive realities in both arts.

The project is divided into two parts: an educational part, which includes Regular Lecture halls, Instrumental Rehearsal Studios, Theatrical Rehearsal Halls, and other supportive facilities. And a Social part which includes: A Theatre and Concert Hall, Library, Galleries and Exhibitions, Outdoor Spaces, Restaurants, and Small Shops.
